Read the room, even over text

An AI keyboard for Android. Your crush, your partner, your boss or a client: MOQI shows you what they mean and helps you write back.

Android only, and in testing right now.

Today you’re replying to

  • your crush
  • your boss
  • your partner
  • a client
  • a coworker
  • your family

What they said, and what they meant

One keyboard, two kinds of chat. Switch between them and watch MOQI read a message you can’t, then help you answer it.

Choose a scene

Crush: Yuki writes in Japanese that she wants to try the dumpling place you mentioned, and that she might be free this weekend. MOQI points out she is waiting for you to ask her out and offers three replies. You pick “saturday lunch? i'll take you”, and it goes out in Japanese with your English under it.

Right there in your keyboard

In any chat app, tap MOQI on the keyboard and all of this is one tap away.

  1. Understand them

Copy their message to see a translation, how to say it, the tone, and what it means between the lines in their culture.

  2. Help me write

A few natural replies that fit your relationship and the tone you want. It can also fix your draft and translate it into their language.

  3. Change tone

Too blunt? One tap makes it formal, mature or brief. What works with your partner is not what works with your boss.

  4. What MOQI has noticed

In each person’s profile, MOQI sums up what they like, what they care about, how they chat and what to watch out for, plus how close you two are. Tap anything that’s off to remove it.

  5. Auto-switch person

MOQI remembers who you talk to in each app and knows the names in copied chats and screenshots. It switches to that person and tells you, just above the keys.

  6. Keyboard themes

Thirty themes, or your own photo as the background. Give someone a theme of their own and the keyboard wears it whenever MOQI switches to them.

  7. Conversation starters

Stuck for something to say? MOQI picks up on the little things you’ve talked about, like the ramen place they wanted to try.

  8. Translate mode and Send bilingually

Type in your language and send in theirs. Turn on Send bilingually and your original goes underneath, so you both pick up each other’s language.

  9. Read screenshot

Group chat ran away from you? Pick a screenshot and MOQI reads the whole conversation, then helps you understand it or reply.

  10. Possible scam

When a message asks for money, a transfer or an investment, MOQI warns you first.

Polite at work, never a pushover

Give your boss, coworkers and clients their own profiles and pick where things stand. For colleagues and clients in Japan, Korea, Thailand or Vietnam, you can also set how polite each message should be.

  • BossNew boss Brief

Your new manager texts at 11 p.m.: “Can I get last quarter’s numbers first thing tomorrow?”

In English Hello, we’re a packaging design studio. We’re getting in touch to ask whether there might be a chance to work with your company. Would a 30-minute video call sometime next week be possible?

The more you use it, the more it sounds like you

MOQI learns from the messages you send: how long they are, your punctuation, your emoji and your favorite words. If a suggestion doesn’t sound like you, tap “Not like me” and it rewrites.

Same at work: MOQI adjusts how formal a reply is for your boss or a client, and keeps your voice. You can turn learning off at any time.

What MOQI learned

  • Short lines
  • Almost never ends with a period
  • Types “lmao” a lot
  • All lowercase
  • Favorite emoji: 🙌

A friend sends

I got the promotion!!

A generic AI writes

Congratulations! Your hard work has truly paid off, and I’m so happy for you!

Typing that feels right

English comes with auto-correct and next-word suggestions. For Chinese, Zhuyin lets you skip the tones and type just the first symbol of each character, and it forgives near-miss taps.

Try typing ㄨㄒㄋ

On a computer keyboard, press J, V, S.

Ways to type

  • Zhuyin
  • Pinyin · Cantonese
  • Cangjie & Quick
  • Stroke · Handwriting
  • English
  • Japanese · Korean
  • Thai · Vietnamese

Hold the space bar and talk

MOQI AI voice typing takes out the ums and adds the punctuation.

Besides English and Chinese, you can type Japanese (12-key flick or romaji), Korean (쿼티 or 천지인), Thai (Kedmanee, 24-key or Pattachote) and Vietnamese (Telex or VNI), and MOQI reads, writes and translates in all of them.

Hold the space bar to try

The first suggestion is 我想你: “I miss you.”

What leaves your phone, in plain words

  • Typing stays on your phone

Typing and word suggestions are handled on your phone. Content goes to MoqiKey’s AI server only when you use the MOQI assistant or MOQI AI voice typing, copy a foreign-language message while “Auto-translate copied messages” is on, or when “My style” periodically summarizes messages you sent recently, and the server does not store it. Auto-translate and style learning are on by default and MOQI AI voice typing is off; you can switch each one in the app.

  • People profiles stay with you

Your People profiles (including their photos) and learned habits stay on your phone.

  • No AI in password fields

No AI and no learning in password fields.

  • Take it to your next phone

Moving to a new phone? Export your data to a password-encrypted file with “Move your data”.

The same goes for work: content leaves your phone only in the cases above, and our server does not keep it. Before you handle confidential company material, you can turn off “Auto-translate copied messages” and style learning, and follow your company’s rules.

Good to know

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. MoqiKey is Android only (Android 8.0 or later). An iPhone version is on the list for later, with no date yet.

How do I join the test?

Email support@moqikey.com, say you’d like to join, and tell us which Android phone you use. We’ll write back with how to install it.

Do I need to sign in? How much can I use it?

Typing, word suggestions and handwriting work without signing in. MOQI AI may ask you to sign in with Google, and it has a daily limit; the Account and Usage pages in the app show how much you’ve used today.

Where is my data kept?

People profiles (including their photos), learned habits and settings stay on your phone. The server records usage (when, which feature, the cost and the region), plus your Google email and the devices you signed in on if you sign in, and your plan and purchase records if you subscribe to MoqiKey Plus or redeem a code (the full list is in section 6 of the privacy policy). What you send to MOQI AI is not kept by our server once it’s processed (Google may cache it briefly; see section 5).

Can I use it for work, even with confidential text?

Yes, there are profiles for your boss, coworkers and clients. Content goes to our server only when you use MOQI AI, copy a foreign-language message while “Auto-translate copied messages” is on, or when style learning runs, and our server does not keep it. Google’s AI service may cache it briefly or keep requests its systems flag, under its own rules (see the privacy policy). Before you handle confidential material, you can turn off auto-translate and style learning, and check your company’s rules.

Is there a Japanese or Korean keyboard?

Yes. Japanese has the 12-key flick pad phones use in Japan and romaji, Korean has 쿼티 (두벌식) and 천지인, Thai has Kedmanee, 24-key and Pattachote, and Vietnamese has Telex and VNI. Turn on the ones you want under “Keyboard settings” in the app, language by language (each downloads a language pack the first time); the globe key switches between them. MOQI also reads, writes and translates in all of them.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. MoqiKey is for people 18 and older.

MoqiKey is in testing. Come try it.

Android only for now. Email us and we’ll tell you how to install it.
